HORSE RIDING HOLIDAYS
The Cadogan Hotel in association with Andrew Young at Total Equine
Services are pleased to offer Horse riding Holidays for 1, 2 or 3
days with a program to suit all abilities
Total Equine Services is a British Riding School Association Approved
Riding Establishment. It is approved and licensed by East Cambridgeshire
County Council and receives regular spot checks from the authorities.
It is also affiliated to West Anglican College offering NVQ qualifications.
On his 18th birthday Andrew Young joined The Blues and Royals, part
of The Household Calvary Regiment. He served 7 years and was present
at many ceremonial duties, including HRH Prince Charles & Lady
Diana’s wedding, many Troop in The Colour, Lord Mayor show’s,
The State Opening of Parliament, Sovereign escorts,Garter Ceremonies
and Cenotaph Parades.
In 1985 Andrew was presented to HRH Her Majesty The Queen at Royal
Windsor Horse show as Best Trooper of the year.
On leaving the army Andrew gained his civilian teaching qualifications.
He gained sponsorship with Bristow Helicopters in Surrey, riding and
participation in event riding, dressage, and show jumping. He left
and set up his own company in 1992 in Kennet, speciailising in Livery,
teaching, breaking school and problem horses.

Beginners
For those who have never been on a horse or are complete novices. You
will gain confidence around horses, be able to lead, mount & dismount
a horse. Learn how to tack up, un tack and look after the bridle and
saddle. Lessons will involve walking and trotting leading into a ‘rising
trot’.
Improvers
Will have the confidence to collect a horse from a paddock, have been
riding before and can walk and trot. Improvers will learn to tack up
and un tack properly. Lessons will involve perfecting the ‘rising
trot’ and the transitions between trotting and walking. Lessons
may lead to cantering depending on the rider’s confidence and
ability.
Advanced Riders
A program will be designed between yourself and the instructor; this
could include dressage, event training and show jumping.
You will need to provide:-
• Waterproof jacket & trousers
• Gloves
• Sun cream
Each morning each rider will receive up to two hours private lessons
within the riding school. During a packed lunch some informal theory
lessons are given. During the afternoon either the riders will practice
the skills learnt in an adjoining field or take the horses out for
a hack around the local area. All under the watchful eye of your
instructor. At the end of the day a practical lesson in horse care
is given, depending upon experience and ability. This may include
grooming, feeding, rugging, picking the horse’s feet, checking legs for damage & infection
and pulling the Maine.
Costs (per person)
1 day without accommodation £120
2 days including 1 night accommodation* £250
3 days including 2 nights accommodation* £380
A £120 non-returnable deposit is required on booking payable
to ‘Total Equine Services.’
*Accommodation is based on a minimum of two sharing, for single occupancy
please add £40/night
What is included?
A minimum of four hours riding per day.
The use of British Standard approved riding hats.
A packed lunch, evening meal from the bar menu, bed and full English
breakfast
Minimum Age
Minimum age for unaccompanied riders is 17 years old. Under 17 years
old a parent or guardian must attended the holiday and stay at the
hotel.
Unaccompanied children over 7 years old are welcome on one day riding
without accommodation, travel or meals provided.
